Winter Whitetail Deer Hunting

In states where food sources for deer are dwindling deer will change their travel patterns.  At this time of year, scouting your area again becomes extremely important as deer movements will change when they begin searching for new food sources.

Locating these new sources is paramount to late season success.  Because there will be less cover it can be difficult to scout areas without spooking deer so whenever possible glass the areas you are scouting to pinpoint movement.  You will likely also need to relocate trail cameras as travel routes change.  Once you discover when and where your target is consistently traveling for food, plan accordingly.  Remember to be well prepared to sit in cold temperatures, as you may have to tough it out in some harsh conditions for an extended period to get your shot.  Putting in the extra work this time of year will definitely help to bag that trophy buck.
