Venison in Barbecue Sauce

This recipe makes a great sauce to serve over mashed potatoes… Submitted by Shelly J.


– 2-2 1/2 lbs. venison steak

– 2 stalks celery cut small

– 1/4 Cup vinegar

– Salt and Pepper

– 2 small onions diced

– 1 1/2 Cup ketchup

– 1 Cup water

– 1/2 Cup white sugar


Roll steak in flour, season with salt & pepper. Brown in a little bit of oil. Mix ketchup, water, vinegar & sugar. Add celery and onion. Put a little ketchup mixture in the bottom of a roaster and lay meat in it. (you can layer meat if you don’t have enough room). Pour remaining mixture over meat. If you don’t have enough liquid, add a little more ketchup & water. Bake 1-1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees.
