Simple Ground Venison Stew

I made this recipe up one day while trying to figure out what to do with all the ground venison I had in the freezer. I knew we couldn’t eat that many burgers! I have always loved venison stew and threw this together based on what I had in the pantry. It turned out delicious and is so easy to make… Submitted by Pat V.

Ingredients

– 2 lbs ground venison

– 6 strips of bacon

– 4 to 6 potatoes cubed

– 1 medium onion diced

– 2 Tbsp. minced garlic

– 1 can peas

– 1 can carrots,

– 1 small can sliced mushrooms

– Beef bouillon cubes

– Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Fry 6 slices of bacon in a large dutch oven or pot. Remove bacon to cool.

Next, brown 2 lbs of ground venison in the same pot utilizing the bacon fat. Drain and put back into the pot, salt and pepper to taste. Add the cubed potatoes, crumbled bacon, diced onion, minced garlic, 1 can of peas including liquid, 1 can of sliced carrots including liquid and 1 can of mushrooms including liquid. Cover with water and add 1 beef bullion cube per cup of water added. Mix well, bring to a boil, cover and reduce to a simmer for about 60 minutes (Stir occasionally) or until the potatoes are fork tender. Enjoy!
