It was a good long run for Legendary Whitetails in The Business Journal’s Social Madness competition, but the Slinger hunting website and catalog firm was bested in its round of 16 match-up against Medical ID Marketplace, a Hope Paige Company, from West Conshohocken, Pa.
Voting in the round of 16 ended Monday. Legendary Whitetails competed in the small company category. The last Milwaukee-area firm is out, but please continue to vote in the competition to determine the best companies in social media.
The scores are a mix of new social media connections on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, and actual votes for each company on the Social Madness site. Each company’s score is updated daily at 9 a.m.
The competition, presented nationally by Capital One Spark Business, uses a proprietary algorithm to measure each company’s social media reach on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. The algorithm makes qualitative as well as quantitative measurements, and at the beginning of each round it resets to zero the portion of a company’s score that came from votes on socialmadness.com.
A weighted measurement of each company’s activity on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn carries forward cumulatively throughout each round. Winners will keep advancing rounds until three national winners are crowned — one each in the large, medium and small categories. They will receive $10,000 for their favorite charity.
The national Social Madness face-off is run by the Business Journal’s parent company, Charlotte, N.C.-based American City Business Journals Inc., the country’s largest publisher o local business news. The overall national winners from each size group will be announced Sept. 11.
