This year, twenty-one Legendary Whitetails employees will have a combined 140 volunteer-hours at Cedar Springs Outdoor Adventure Camp by camp’s end. Now in its fifth year of operation, the outdoor adventure camp has grown from a week-long camp in 2014 to four full weeks this summer, with plans to eventually run all summer long.Located on a pristine 38 acres of wilderness in Slinger, Wisconsin, Cedar Springs Adventure Camp provides a Christian centered atmosphere for nearly 400 kids from all over Southeastern Wisconsin. The camp overstretches a beautiful landscape of rolling hills and has ten separate stations located throughout the grounds, many of which are focused on outdoor skills and activities. The stations include:ArcheryThis is by far the kids’ favorite station! Here they get to learn about archery equipment and how to shoot a bow and arrow. Many of the kids leave camp saying they are going to ask their mom and dad for a bow and arrow when they get home.Backwoods SkillsAt this station, the kids learn different survival skills, such as rope tying and how to build a shelter. Through the activities, they also learn the value teamwork and communication.AnimalWho doesn’t like playing with animals? The kids love this station as they get to interact with anything from ducks to dogs, and every farm animal in between.Horseback RidingWant to see the kids’ faces light up? Just visit the horseback riding station! On the last day of camp, the kids get the chance to saddle up and ride a horse around camp!ConstructionA super valuable station for those kids who love toy cars. The kids get to work with their hands to construct a derby car out of strange materials, and then take them out and race ‘em after they’re finished!Outside GamesThe kids get to burn off some energy and engage in some very creative group games.Campfire Cooking This station goes beyond the classic marshmallows and s’more snack. At this station, campers get to learn how to cook donut twists over the fire – and they are darn good, if I may say so myself!Bucket Drumming Another fun station where the kids get to expend some energy and create some solid beats!Story Telling Things get a little quieter as the kids get to share stories with their peers.CraftsBust out the glue guns and popsicle sticks – it’s time for some arts and crafts! All in all, it’s a great camp run by a terrific staff and one that Legendary Whitetails has been proud to be a part of over the last several years!Cedar Springs Outdoor Adventure Camp is designed for children entering grades K-5 next school year. The staff of counselors, station leaders and volunteers is trained to keep campers safe and supported throughout their week of camp.
