Dan Infalt

Dan Infalt grew up without much. Hunting, trapping, and fishing was more of a way to keep fed than for sport. It was in those hard times when Dan got really good at killing deer. Later when times were not so tough, Dan started seeking the challenge of bigger and older bucks. He has been really good at that too. He has taken dozens of big bucks on pressured and public ground and takes pride in getting it done on an equal playing field with other regular hunters. You won’t see Dan in a decked out truck full of stickers, or a dress shirt full of sponsor patches. But, you just might find him knee deep in muck out in the public marsh. Dan is the president of Hunting Beast outdoors the maker of educational hunting DVD’s. He is also the vice president of HBTECH a company dedicated to mobile hunting products and solutions. 20 Questions w/Dan Infalt

  1. Where are you from? Where do you live now?

Born and raised in S/E Wisconsin.  Been here my whole life.

  1. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

I love it right here where I’m at. But I do feel more at home alone in the wilderness,  Northern Minnesota, or Alaska would be great choices, but with both, I would find myself missing the great whitetail hunting here in Wisconsin.

  1. What’s your favorite animal to hunt and/or fish to catch?

I’m best known for my public land whitetail hunting, but I really love bowhunting bears. Fish wise, I prefer the big predators. I like river fishing for pike, but fishing always takes a back seat to hunting, my true love.

  1. What did you want to be when you were a kid?

I never dreamed of working for a living, I dreamed of adventure.  As a kid, I was fascinated with hunting and dreamed of hunting dangerous or exciting game like bears or big cats.

  1. What’s an ideal weekend for you

Wilderness solitude. Camping in the far north woods with no radio, no phone, no people except maybe my wife or a good friend.

  1. What’s your favorite sports team?

Lately, sports teams have turned me off with extreme behavior and political views. I would rather sit in a treestand 18 feet closer to God, or cast a line into an ice cold remote trout stream than waste my time watching overpaid sports stars act poorly.

  1. What’s your favorite beer?

Cowboy coffee over a campfire under the stars sounds better than beer to me.

  1. What’s your favorite gun/bow?

I like Forge bows. A little guy struggling in a world of giants not worrying about getting rich, just taking pride in helping hunters be all they can be.

  1. What’s your favorite wild game meal?

I love bear steak cubed and cooked with hot peppers, onions, butter, vegetables, salt,  more butter, more salt, not overcooked…  Did I mention to add lots of butter?

  1. Favorite music genre? Artist?

Toby Keith

  1. Dog or cat person? Breed?

I love all animals. I really like big old black lab’s.

  1. What drives you?

I strive to be the best I can be. I love a can’t-win challenge. Mentally, I believe in me.  I go into every hunt believing I will get my target. When I fail, I go right back out still believing.  I don’t fear failure, failure should fear me. Failure motivates me even more to succeed. Not just hunting, but every aspect of life. Rather than today’s mentality of needing a pat on the back and group support, I want to prove I need no one.

  1. Who are your heroes?

Myles Keller. They just don’t build great hunters like him no more.  Other than him, I like the lesser known heroes that you wouldn’t recognize, cause they are not looking for fame or notoriety. I’m a fan of street cops, or The man that’s born in poverty in a poor area of the inner city, but rather than turn to drugs and crime, steps up, follows the American dream and climbs his way out of the city to a better place for him and his family. The young father working 2 jobs to support his family. The man that stands up against evil, even if he is outnumbered, and knows he can’t win. Those who would die rather than turn their back on a human in trouble.

  1. What would you name your boat if you had one?

Playing Hookie

  1. Where’d you go to college?

No College…

  1. What TV character would you be?

Clint Eastwood

  1. What’s your favorite day to hunt?

Every day. I like it all. Bring on the hot sun, the -20 below wind chills, the relentless rain, etc. If Im in the wild, Im happy. Weather, timing, etc, its all just used for excuse in why not to go..  Every down fall creates an advantage. Look at the positives of the day and swing for the fences.

  1. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done and would you do it again?

I roped and hog-tied a wild boar. But what was crazier than that was I married Carol Infalt. I have no choice but to say “yes dear, I would do it again!”

  1. What’s your biggest pet peeve?

Bullies…

  1. What’s your favorite piece of Legendary Whitetails apparel?

I like it all. Legendary is a great brand with high quality and a great look. I have been a big fan since way back when Larry Huffman started it. He was always a class act that treated everyone with equal respect.
